Today, Southampton FC are Premier League giants, finishing 6th in the 2015-2016 English Premier League season.

The Saints’ home since 2001 has been St Mary’s Stadium, before which they were based at The Dell. The team that play in red and white today can trace their roots back to the club formed in 1885 by member of St. Mary’s Church Young Men’s association who played their soccer of the Itchen for 13 years before moving on. The club has a long-standing rivalry with Portsmouth due to their close proximity and history.

It’s well known that Southampton have one of the best soccer coaching academies for developing quality soccerers and consequently hold the highest of coaching standards. To shortlist some of the Saints’ graduates; Gareth Bale, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne. We don’t know what they drink in Southampton but we want some of it.

The philosophy at Southampton FC is very much a family club, with an emphasis on developing talent from within the club. At The Coaching Manual we share the philosophy of developing talent and we are committed to improving coaching and playing standards worldwide.

It’s that desire to improve the coaching and playing standards that inspired us to partner with Southampton FC. Since our partnership we have spent years filming and recording coaching sessions with some of Southampton’s best academy coaches.
